Ventilation During Advanced Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest

Principal investigator: Sten Rubertsson
Study manager: Johan Mälberg

The aim of this multicenter study is to investigate how Emergency Medical Service (EMS)-personnel perform ventilation during out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) and how well they adhere to current guidelines regarding ventilation.

During Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) performed by EMS personnel on patients suffering from OHCA, data concerning the ventilation will be collected. This data includes ventilation frequency, tidal volumes, inspiratory- and expiratory pressures, end tidal CO2, dead space and several other parameters.

The study is a collaboration between Uppsala university, the Uppsala Ambulance service and the Utrecht Ambulance service.
